Issue Ten (Oct 2013) of the Health Promoting Schools newsletter discusses Reading Together® at Fairhaven School. Extracts follow (page 3):
This is the first time that Fairhaven School has offered the Reading Together workshops and they have been overwhelmed by the positive success from implementing the programme.
"Parents have felt more relaxed and confident in working with their child at home and assisting their child with their reading. Our long term vision is that every parent that enrols their child at Fairhaven School will complete the Reading Together programme. We want our school community to be best equipped to support children on their way to literacy success" says Mrs Hiini.
The school recently enjoyed their final workshop at the newly renovated Te Puke Public Library. Everyone enjoyed sharing stories and having a library tour. The school is looking forward to implementing the next series of workshops which will be starting soon.
A 16 November quote from Fairhaven School's Facebook page:
Just a couple of pictures from "Reading together" they had a wonderful time at the Marae [here and here], for their final session the Reading together team will be visiting Te Puke Public Library :-)
